Why You Should Consider Starting Your Day with a CBD Tincture

Taking CBD with a tincture is a great way to start the day. Quick and easy to take, tinctures can improve your mood, concentration and energy levels to kick-start your morning. They can even help with pain, inflammation, insomnia and a wide variety of other ailments that may be holding you back during the day.

I’m sure your mind is racing right now with questions like “what is CBD?” and “what is a tincture?” rolling around in your brain.

Let’s take a step back I’ll do a little bit of explaining.

What is CBD?

One of the greatest natural medicines in the world can be found in an unusual place – cannabis. Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a natural compound called a “cannabinoid.” Cannabinoids are produced by hemp and marijuana plants. Hemp plants produce a large amount of CBD, while marijuana plants produce a higher concentration of THC.

With marijuana being illegal in most states across America, most people shy away from anything that has the word “cannabis” in it. However, unlike its cousin tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, CBD does not cause any psychoactive effects. Rather than interacting with the body’s neurotransmitters to cause a “high” feeling like THC does, CBD primarily interacts with systems in the body that deal with mental and physical health.

In fact, unlike marijuana products, hemp-derived CBD products are legal in every state and are commonly becoming more widely accepted among the scientific and health communities as a natural medicine.

What Does CBD Actually Do?

So, what’s the point? You’re probably thinking, ‘that’s a lot of talk, but how does CBD actually help?”

I’m glad you asked.

Taking CBD on a daily basis has been shown to help people with a wide variety of mental and physical ailments. This is because CBD interacts with several important systems and receptors in the body, such as the endocannabinoid system, vanilloid pain receptors, adenosine receptors and serotonin receptors.

When CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system, it stimulates two different receptors, the CB1 receptor and the CB2 receptor. The CB1 receptor is connected to the brain and deals greatly with the nervous system and several major organs. The CB2 receptor is in control of a large portion of the peripheral systems. These receptors work together within the endocannabinoid system to maintain basic homeostasis. In other words, they are in charge of a lot of things within the human body.

When CBD interacts with these receptors, it mimics the natural compounds our body produces within the system and helps reduce pain and inflammation, regulate memory, regulate cognitive function and improve sensory perception.

Outside of the endocannabinoid system, CBD can interact with serotonin receptors to improve a person’s mood and decrease depression rates, it can interact with vanilloid pain receptors to help with pain perception and it can even play a part in the body’s cardiovascular functioning through adenosine receptors.

All in all, CBD has been used to fight cancer, help protect the brain against neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures, improve brain functioning to help those with mood disorders and help regulate the body at night to fight sleep disorders.

In other words, CBD provides a natural treatment to a wide array of maladies.

How is CBD Taken?

Now that you know about all of great benefits of CBD, how do you take it? There are several methods of taking CBD including vaping, edibles, capsules and lotions. However, one of the most popular methods to take CBD is by using a tincture.

What is a Tincture?

A tincture is a liquid concentrate containing high amounts of CBD and often other beneficial cannabinoids, vitamins and terpenes. It is made by seeping these compounds in an alcohol solution and then boiling it down into a concentrate. This concentrate is then typically mixed with some kind of natural oil, such as coconut oil. This leaves a highly-concentrated mixture that works quickly and has a high absorption rate.

Tinctures are typically taken sublingually – meaning that a small amount of the liquid is portioned out and held under the tongue for several seconds where it is allowed to seep into the bloodstream through the mouth’s thin membrane.

Why Are Tinctures Becoming More Popular?

CBD tinctures are popular for a variety of reasons. First, they work very quickly. The liquid only needs to be held under the tongue for a few seconds for it to be absorbed and then effects are usually felt in as little as 15 minutes.

Tinctures also have a high absorption rate – second only to vaping. When taking CBD via a tincture, more of the compound is absorbed directly into the blood stream, meaning that less is broken down by the digestive system. This near-instant impact means that between 20 and 35% of the CBD is absorbed by the body.

Because of the high concentration of CBD in tinctures, they are also cheaper to purchase when compared to many other types of products. A little goes a long way and a single bottle can last up to five years when stored correctly. Tinctures are also easy to use. They typically come with a built-in dropper so the concentrate can be easily portioned out.

Psychological Benefits and Tinctures

Due to the high absorption percentage and the quick impact, tinctures can lead to a lot of psychological benefits. When taken before bed, tinctures can help moderate brain activity and boost serotonin levels for a longer, more rejuvenating night’s sleep. If taken in the morning, tinctures can interact with several body systems to decrease rates of depression and anxiety. Some can even help with energy levels and concentration!

What Tinctures Are Out There?

There are CBD tinctures available for just about every need. Eco Sciences’ ECODROPS, for example, offer four different kinds of tinctures, one to help those with insomnia sleep better at night, one to help you stay energized and alert, one helps relieve pain for chronic sufferers and the last is made to boost your mood and energy levels.

KOI Naturals and Pure Spectrum are two brands that make delivering all natural products their priority. Koi Naturals is made with no added chemicals and is infused with several high-quality vitamins for a natural, earthy solution. Pure Spectrum makes their CBD tinctures with organic, therapeutic-grade CBD and whole-plant extract for an organic, GMO-free tincture.

CBDFx tinctures are extremely pure and features CO2 extracted CBD oil that is blended with cocoanut MCT oil for a tincture with a punch. There are no other ingredients, so a little goes a long way with CBDFx.
